Furthermore, you should always remember every breast surgical operation carries risks. And it is important that you are aware of the potential risks and consequences of breast implants before you make the decision.

Breast implants risks are described briefly below for your information:

• Capsular Constracture
  
  This is the most common complication with breast implants. It happens when the scar tissue forms round the implant shrinks and harden the breasts. Surgical procedure like removal of the implants and capsule, and replacement of another implant may have to be done.
  
  

• Implants leakage
  
  Do not expect implants to last for a lifetime. And leakages or rupture can happen as early as a few months after implants or many years after the implants. Reasons that accounts for rupture/ leakage includes injury to the breast, normal aging of implants, and capsular contracture. Removal of implants may be required for ruptured breasts implants.
  
  

• Dissatisfaction with Breasts appearance after Implants
  
  The shape of the breasts may not turn out to be what is expected, and the desired cleavage may not be achieved after the implants. And the breasts may look unnatural due to the implants when the woman lies down. A small proportion of women may take years for the scars from the surgery to heal satisfactorily, thus the breasts will not look cosmetically desirable. For women with very little breast tissue, creasing, wrinkling, kinking and rippling in the breasts are seen more frequently.
  
  

• Breast / Nipple Sensation
  
  Nipple/breast sensation after implant may increase or decrease drastically after the implants. This changes, if permanent, may affect sexual response or ability to nurse a baby.
  
  

• Infection
  
  Infection that arises from breast implants are more difficult to treat. If severe, the implants may have to be removed, and replacement can only be done when the infection has cleared up.
  
  

• Severe Pain
  
  After the surgery, woman may feel pain. And complications like capsular contracture may cause severe pain.
  
  

• Interference with Mammography
  
  It is important that a woman with breast tissue remaining after the implants continue to have mammography of the breast to detect breast cancer. However, implants make taking and reading mammograms more difficult and may delay or hinder the early detection of breast cancer. Special care and extra time are required for mammography for woman with implants.
  
  

• Additional Surgeries
  
  Because of the problems associated with breast implants, you may need to undergo surgeries either to remove or replace the implants. Should replacement of implants is not done, the breasts shape may not be cosmetically desirable.
